I'm really saddened to know that Ameen Sayani ji, the king of radio's golden era, has passed away. From Binaca Geetmala to his mellifluous voice, Sayani ji wasn't just a broadcaster; he was a storyteller who brought the magic of music to countless homes. For me, he was more than just a voice; the companion, and the one who ignited my love for music.

More than just a radio personality, Sayani ji became an icon after the groundbreaking success of ‘Geetmala.’ He was the first host in India to curate and present an entire show, showcasing his deep understanding of the evolving music. That show became a part of us growing up. His legacy is not just a single melody, but a tapestry of memories etched in the hearts of a nation.

His absence leaves a void, but his legacy lives on, not just in the archives of radio recordings, but in the words and music he shared. In the quiet moments, his voice still whispers stories of a time gone by, reminding us of the power of music to connect and inspire. He may be gone, but the melody he played will forever resonate.

Awaaz ab na hogi, par yaadon ka sur rahega, Binaca Geemala ka woh jaadu humesha hum sang rahega.. (The voice may be no more but the echoes will stay; the magic of Binaca Geemala will forever resonate within us..)
