After spending close to ten years at Cheil India, Sanjeev Jasani has decided to move on from his position as the group chief operating officer (COO) at the Korean advertising firm. Leading the agency's operations in the South West Asia region, he played a key role in its transition to a digital-first company.

Multiple sources have confirmed to Campaign that Jasani has put in his papers and is currently serving the notice period in the company.

Campaign reached out to Cheil India to confirm this development, but did not receive a reply.

Earlier in 2020, Cheil had elevated Jasani as COO from his new role as chief digital officer (CDO). He took over the reigns from Atika Malik, who joined the agency in 2017 as chief strategy officer.

Jasani has spent over 25 years in the advertising industry. Before joining Cheil in 2015 as its CDO, he was the senior vice president for OgilvyOne Worldwide, a company he was associated with for 14 years. He was instrumental in driving the company's transformation from an offline customer relationship management (CRM) agency to a full-fledged digital outfit, growing OgilvyOne Delhi's revenue by over 200%. He was also associated with JWT (now VML) and Contract at various stages of his career.

Popularly known as the Samsung-agency globally, Cheil India has been on a mission to grow its client base beyond the Korean electronics giant. It launched Cheil X in 2017 to highlight its strategic positioning in the Indian market. In June this year, the full-service independent outfit unveiled its new identity with a fresh visual emblem that the company claimed is a "synthesis of cultural heritage and creative ethos, echoing agency's philosophical underpinnings".

Recently, the agency bolstered its creative leadership by appointing Sudhir Das and Rajat Gupta. Das was roped in as senior executive director and reports to Vikash Chemjong, COO, Cheil India while Gupta was given the charge of Cheil X, Mumbai as its vice president and creative head.
