Ashish Patil, currently senior VP - new ventures and GM - youth movies at Viacom18, will join Yash Raj Films to launch a new division that will produce films targeted at the youth.Patil has spent over 12 years at MTV, joining as marketing executive, growing to the level GM-creative and content, before being elevated to his current title. During his time at MTV, he led the launch and growth of many successful properties such as Roadies, Splitsvilla, On the Job and Youth Icon.
MTV India drops 'Music Television' baseline
Come Saturday and MTV India will drop the 'Music Television' baseline that has been around since the channel's inception in 1981 in the US. In India, it has sported it since the last 13 years.This change has already happened in some countries that include the US and Canada. India now joins the club, as the broadcaster transforms itself into a destination thats "beyond music, beyond television". The channel will now have a simple black and white logo.
MTV, Force India partner for new reality series
Force India has announced its partnership with MTV for a new reality show, titled 'MTV Force India The Fast and the Gorgeous'. The show is a hunt for speed divas for India's F1 team. The show was announced by Dr. Vijay Mallya and actress Deepika Padukone.
MTV and Diageo urge consumers to drink responsibly
MTV Networks India and Diageo India have rolled out a Pan-Asian 'Diageo MTV Guardian Angel' campaign, to dissuade consumers from driving under the influence of alchohol. The initiative encourages consumers to "Listen to your Guardian Angel – if you drink, don't drive". MTV VJs Nikhil Chinnapa and Anusha Dandekar have been brought on board to promote this campaign in India.
