Effie 2014: Ogilvy bags agency of the year; HUL takes top client award
Ogilvy & Mather bagged the Agency of the Year title at the Effies 2014 held in Mumbai on 16 January 2015. The agency finished 31 points ahead of last year’s winner Lowe Lintas + Partners.
Ogilvy’s winning tally included two Golds, eight Silvers and 16 Bronze wins. Eighteen of its entries received a finalist nomination, while the agency bagged nine points for its work as a contributing agency.
 
The two Gold wins came of Bournvita (Best on-going campaign category) and Google (Digital: Online/Mobile Communication category).
 
Soho Square bagged the Grand Effie for ‘The Political Campaign That Created History’ for the Bharatiya Janta Party.
 
Hindustan Unilever was awarded Client of the Year.
 
Last year’s winner Lowe Lintas + Partners finished in second place this year. But, the agency won the most Golds on the night, with seven Golds. The agency also bagged six Silvers and eight Bronze to go with its nine finalists.
 
The Gold wins for Lowe came for Idea and Tata Tea in the Best on-going campaign category. Work for Idea also won a Gold in the Services category.
 
Its work ‘Kan Khajura Tesan’ for HUL won Golds in David vs Goliath and Integrated Advertising campaign categories.
 
In the retail category the agency bagged Gold for the ‘remarriage’ campaign for Tanishq.
 
In the consumer durables category the agency bagged Gold for Havells’ #RespectWomen entry.
McCann Worldgroup India finished third on the agency tally with two Golds, five Silvers, eight Bronze and six finalists.
 
The agency bagged both Golds for Saffola Masala Oats in the integrated advertising campaign category and consumer products category.
