Grey’s ‘green’ campaign delivers ‘Killer’ punch at Olive Crown Awards

Grey Worldwide won the Agency of the Year title at the IAA Olive Crown Awards 2013. The awards to celebrate creative excellence in communicating sustainability - or ‘green’ advertising - were given away at a ceremony in Mumbai on 1 April. This is the third edition of the property created by the International Advertising Association India Chapter (IAA).

In the 2013 edition, Grey’s work ‘Green Turn Water Saver Jeans’ for client Kewal Kiran Clothing’s Killer Jeans won the client the Advertiser of the Year title.

The Campaign of the Year award went to the internationally awarded ‘Minus 1 Project’ for client Samsung Printers by Cheil Worldwide.

Other Gold Olive Crown winners in 2013 were Stark Communications, Umbrella Design, Scarecrow Communications, Innocean Worldwide, Cheil Worldwide, DDB Mudra, DDB Mudramax, BBH, JWT and Draftfcb-Ulka.

Padmashri Kartikeya Sarabhai was conferred the Olive Crown Green Crusader Award, an award presented to an individual who has dauntlessly fought the battle for going green.

A Green Hungama Award, open to participants under 30 years, was awarded to Abhishek Saxena of Webchutney. This was adjudged on the basis of a 60-second green film entrants were asked to create.

MG Parameswaran, chairperson, Olive Crown Awards 2013, and ED and CEO, DraftfcbUlka, said the number of entries had risen by 45 per cent over the 2012 edition. He added that the jury, which comprised creatives including Sonal Dabral, KV Sridhar, Vinod Rao, Chax, Ramki and Charles Victor, were of the opinion that the quality of entries too had improved dramatically over the years.
Srinivasan Swamy, president, International Advertising Association, India Chapter, and chairman, RK Swamy BBDO, said, “There has been widespread acceptance for these awards as corporates see the green message as a key differentiator in a competitive environment. And going green is no longer a luxury but an essential part of doing business. We are delighted to see that clients are roping in agency partners to help them build green awareness for their brands”.
