24 hours with... Govind Pandey

The CEO of TBWA\ India takes us through what a day in his life looks like

24 hours with... Govind Pandey

Ever wondered what an ideal day in the life of someone from advertising/marketing/media is? We're here to spill the beans on it.

Every Tuesday, we'll have a person from the advertising/marketing/media industry profiled in this section.

Name: Govind Pandey
Job: CEO, TBWA\ India
Professional mantra: Chase the difficult! Question the unquestioned!
Personal mantra: It’s not about where you are going. It is about where you are coming from.

I sleep in batches… Go to bed at 11 pm.

For some reason, I am awake between 3 to 4 am. Time for reflection and spiritual reading.

6:30am: My watch alarm starts buzzing... Wake up and think about going for a walk. Mostly end up making a cup of coffee and checking emails and news.

When I do go for a walk, I listen to a few podcasts while walking in the neighbourhood park.

7:30am: Breakfast with wife and get ready for the work.

8:30am: Commute to the office. Some office calls. Catch up on Audiobooks and All In and the Seen and the Unseen podcasts

9:15am: Most often I am the first in the office. Finish off my emails, my notes on the shared client work and the new business pitch decks and Google Docs. A lot of ongoing work is live on Google Docs. Set up the playlist for the office background music.

10:30am: Internal leadership team catch-up.

11:30am: Work chats. Mentoring chats. Disrupt internal meetings and randomly ask a few pointed questions. Build on some of the ideas.

1:00pm: Have lunch with some colleagues and hunt for desserts on the floor.

2:00pm: I usually do the scheduled part of my job. Calls, Teams, finance, HR, client meetings …

5pm: It’s time for me to walk around the office and speak to the younglings on the floor. Catch up with what’s happening, and sometimes even discover agency pain points. This usually ends with a quick TT game with one of them.

5:30pm: ARGUMENT TIME! New business catch-ups are usually set up around this. And as an agency that believes in disruption, the discussions can get quite heated, argumentative and disruptive. We all believe in thrashing it out to get the best outcome.

7:30pm: Leave for home. It is at least an hour-long commute and sometimes longer. Catch up with some personal friends or industry friends on a call. Discuss a cricket match or a new movie/OTT series.

9:00pm: Dinner with family.

10:00pm: Catch up on some readings. News of the day. Watch some OTT series that has been recommended.
