Cannes Lions 2017: India comes out shining with its highest ever haul at Cannes

India bagged a gold to wrap up the brilliant run this year at Cannes Lions 2017.

On the final day of Cannes Lions International festival of creativity, India bagged a gold in the film category. Wieden + Kennedy, New Delhi bagged this Gold Lion for Nike, ‘Da Da Ding’.
 
With 40 metals including a Grand Prix for Good Health, this has been the best year for India in recent times. The country’s highest tally was 33 in 2013, while India bagged 27 metals in 2016.
 
However, in Cannes Lions 2017, there were many categories where India’s performance was lagging behind. The country got no metals in the following categories :
  • Print & Publishing Lions
  • Cyber Lions 
  • Entertainment Lions
  • Creative Data Lions
  • Digital Craft Lions
  • Mobile Lions
  • Integrated Lions
  • Entertainment Lions for Music
  • Titanium Lions
  • Grand Prix For Good

Among categories where India was shining bright included Pharma Lions where the country bagged 10 metals. 

Other categories where India put up a good performance included Design Lions, Creative Effectiveness Lions, Health and Wellness Lions and PR Lions.
