Cannes Lions 2017: Jury speak

Amit Akali, chief creative officer, Medulla Communications speaks about his experience as a juror for the Health Lions

Cannes Lions 2017: Jury speak
The good thing was that the jury head came from a pharma background. She set the tone on the difference between the Pharma and the Healthcare and Wellness work. She was very clear that in Pharma, the work that will be rewarded will be purely pharma work. What happens is that people enter their work everywhere to try their luck.

The pharma industry is a highly regulated industry. The pharma business goes through a lot of scrutiny and regulations. The work that comes out operates within those restrictions and is still fantastic. It would be unfair to judge it alongside work that comes without any other restriction, like the health and wellness work. Something done for general healthcare could come in there as people tend to enter in both sections. We looked carefully at category by category and scrutinised what did fit or did not fit and accordingly judged it.

For India, it's again a fantastic year in this section. Obviously, we are doing something right here. When work comes with insight and borrows on the culture, it helps it to stand out.
