MIB issues advisory to media covering Covid-19

Follows a spike in the number of journalists testing positive for the virus

MIB issues advisory to media covering Covid-19
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory to media covering Covid-19 and travelling to affected areas, to take health precautions while doing their duties.

This comes after a spike in the number of coronavirus cases among the media.

On 16 and 17 April, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai organised a camp and collected swab samples of 171 media persons, including electronic and print media journalists, photographers and cameramen. 53 of the 171 tests were positive.

Earlier this week, the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Delhi also arranged Covid-19 tests for media persons. Some journalists from a Tamil news TV channel in Chennai tested positive for the infection.
