One Show Interactive changes to quarterly entry system

The One Show has introduced a quarterly entry system, as opposed to the annual entry system that has become the industry norm.  Entries will be posted on the One Show Interactive site and will be viewable by the general public in real-time. Once work appears on the site it will trigger the system’s social networking features, (updates on Facebook and Twitter), effectively attempting to promote the entrant’s work.

One Show Interactive jurors will award finalists for each quarter. At year-end, quarterly finalists will move into contention for a Pencil at the final judging. Each quarterly finalist is assured at least a merit award and inclusion in the Interactive annual.

"The digital world moves too fast for a once a year deadline," said Kevin Swanepoel, president, The One Club. "Too often, work created early in the year is overshadowed by the 'newest and latest' that comes out closer to a big traditional deadline. The One Show Interactive's new quarterly deadlines give all work equal attention no matter when it was released, allowing groundbreaking ideas to be recognized in near real time."

The One Show stated that the new quarterly judging system will attempt to ensure that:

- work is judged while it is still new in the marketplace

- an agency receives recognition for having been "first to market" if they’ve been first to effectively use a new technique, technology, or concept

- social networking traffic to an agency's current work is maximized

- work is judged in smaller batches of work, which means that judges devote more time to each entry

The new quarterly entry deadlines are March 31st, June 30th, September 30th, and December 31st. For a look at One Show Interactive’s 2010 jury visit http://oneshowinteractive.org
