Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been brought in by Colors to host the fourth edition of their reality television show Bigg Boss. The show will go on air later this year. With Salman Khan on board, Colors has looked to change the role of their host: he will be shown ridiculing and reprimanding the inmates present in the Bigg Boss house and being only friendly to those contestants who will play it clean and stay out of all the politics in the house.
Commenting about Bigg Boss 4, Rajesh Kamat, group chief operating officer of Viacom18 and chief executive officer of Colors, said, “Bigg Boss is one show that cuts across both – India as well as Bharat, in popularity and appeal. The coming together of India’s most ‘wanted’ superstar with India’s most wanted reality show only means one thing – entertainment extravaganza for COLORS’ viewers.”
On his association with Bigg Boss, Salman Khan commented, “From all the reality television shows I have seen, Bigg Boss has always intrigued me the most. It is amazing to see how people react under unique circumstances and to what levels they can go to win in a competition. I am a very straightforward person and am clear as the show’s host as well, that I will not take any hypocrisy and politics lightly. For those who play clean, they will always find their best friend in me… those who don’t, be ready to expect the worst”.
Colors' programming head Ashvini Yardi added, "With Salman as the host, viewers should be prepared to witness as much action outside the house as is expected inside. Salman’s inimitable style, candid persona and exceptional sense of humour is sure to make Bigg Boss Season-4 memorable.”
Last year for the third edition of Bigg Boss, 9 crore viewers watched the show over a period of 3 months.
