The Economist posts 25% circulation increase Y-o-Y

The Economist has posted a 57th consecutive rise in six-monthly ABC figures and a doubling of global circulation since 1999. ABC figures (for  the period of July to December 2009) released recently show global year-on-year  growth of 2.16%, and a total worldwide circulation of 1,420,766, with weekly readership  of The Economist now exceeding four million.

The Economist has posted a 57th consecutive rise in six-monthly ABC figures and a doubling of global circulation since 1999. ABC figures (for  the period of July to December 2009) released recently show global year-on-year  growth of 2.16%, and a total worldwide circulation of 1,420,766, with weekly readership  of The Economist now exceeding four million.

Specifically with respect to India, circulation of The Economist has registered a 25%  increase year-on-year (with circulation at 24,442 copies for the July to December period). This follows a 27% increase in the last period (January to June 2009). 

Suprio Guha Thakurta, managing director, The Economist Group, India, said, “The continuing growth of The Economist’s India circulation is extremely satisfying.  It reaffirms our belief that Indians are becoming increasingly interested in the world.  And they are turning to The Economist for its unique analysis and insight.”
