Three Indian winners at WAN – Asian Digital Media Awards 2010

Indian media companies have done reasonably well at the recently held WAN – Asian Digital Media Awards 2010. NDTV Convergence won a Gold award in the ‘Tablet / iPad News Product’ category, while Jagran Prakashan and Lokmat Newspapers managed Silver awards in the ‘Classifieds Website’ and ‘Cross Media Advertising’ categories respectively.

“The Asian Digital Media Awards were launched to identify the best and recognize outstanding work in the digital media space in Asia Pacific,” said, Thomas Jacob, Deputy CEO and Managing Director, Greater Asia Pacific, WAN-IFRA.

WAN-IFRA (World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers) announced the winners of the first Asian Digital Media Awards on November 24 during the second edition of the Digital Media Asia conference in Singapore.

“With digital media’s evolution gathering pace, publishers and media owners are looking for business models and best practices. The award-winning pioneers not only prove themselves to be the best in Asia Pacific, but also become role models for others to emulate,” Jacob added.

NDTV Convergence won the Gold for its entry ‘Tablet/iPad NDTV HD’ as the Best Tablet / iPad News Product. For the award, the jury evaluated the capacity of publications to embrace these new platforms and to create applications that make full use of each devices type’s specific features for creating a new and enjoyable media experience. Judges paid special attention to news product design and ease of navigation.

‘Campaign Lokmat Aurangabad Premier League - A Cricket Carnival’ won a Silver award in the Cross Media Advertising category. In this category, the jury honours a publication’s ability to offer added value to its readers/users and advertisers through publishing or advertising on several media channels.

Jagran Prakashan won its Silver award in the ‘Classifieds Website’ category for its website www.khojle.in. This category honours classifieds websites that show outstanding quality of design and navigation and provide a unique end-user experience.
