ZEE Board approves swap ratio for 9X acquisition
The Board of Directors of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited has approved the Scheme of Arrangement between the Company and INX Media Private Limited (INX) for the demerger of ‘9X’ General Entertainment Channel Business Undertaking from INX and vesting into the Company.
9X now available on DD Direct Plus
9X will now also be available on Prasar Bharati's DD Direct Plus – the nation's biggest and free Digital Multichannel Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform. Starting 12 February, 2009, 9X will become available to an additional 7 million households nationwide.9X is available on all DTH platforms -- DD Direct Plus, dishtv, Tata Sky, Big TV, Sun TV Direct and Airtel's Digital TV, which together, reach approximately 20 million households with 112 million viewers nationwide.
"More focus and attention on INX Media": Peter Mukerjea
Peter Mukerjea, chairman, INX Group says there will be no change in the structure of INX Media after the sale of NewsX to Indi Media.Speaking to Campaign India a few days after the NewsX sale to Indi Media, Mukerjea, elaborating on the implications of the sale on the two other channels from the stable, 9X and 9XM, said, "More focus and attention will now be available for INX Media. We will be seeing fresh content on 9X over the next few weeks just as soon as we can get the programming commissioned and produced keeping in mind market sensitivities."
STAR Plus jumps back into the 300s
Even though the days to come might not be good for the GECs in the wake of the ongoing producers-FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) tiff , GECs have performed well in the week gone by.According to TAM figures for week 45 (CS 4+) STAR Plus jumps back into the 300s with 316 GRPs as compared to last week's 271 GRPs. Colors retains the number two slot with 250 GRPs.Zee picked up too to deliver 207 GRPs. Last week's GRPs were 171.Other numbers include Sony at 101 GRPs, STAR One at 86 GRPs, NDTV Imagine at 81 GRPs, 9X at 63 GRPs and Sahara One at 59 GRPs.
Colors says 'Yes, we can'
Can Colors sustain the performance and stay at number two in the GEC stake? The question is doing the rounds in all the channels in the GEC space -- and the answer, clearly, is yes, they can.According to TAM figures for week 44, Colors was steady at 221 GRPs (CS 4+) with STAR Plus still in the number one position, but dropping back into the 200s at 271 GRPs.Zee slumped to 171 GRPs, a full 50 GRPs behind Colors.Other preformances include Sony at 93 GRPs, STAR One at 81 GRPs, NDTV Imagine at 76 GRPs, Sahara One at 58 GRPs and 9X at 54 GRPs.
STAR Plus lonely at the top
STAR Plus continued to rule the Hindi GEC market with an impressive 310 GRPs (Week 43, CS 4+ HSM, TAM) even as Colors made it five weeks in the No. 2 spot with 215 GRPs.Colors' performance was fairly broadbased, with Balika Vadhu emerging as the top rated show during the week (peak 7.45, average 6.97) garnering support from Jai Shri Krishna and Bigg Boss II.Zee slipped under 200 with 198 GRPs, more than a 100 GRPs ahead of fourth placed Sony with 86 GRPs.NDTV Imagine (73), STAR One (73), Sahara One (60) and 9X (54) made the rest of the numbers for the week.
