Standard Chartered essays card benefits with warm 'Summer Santa' stories

Standard Chartered has rolled out an advertising campaign for its Landmark Rewards Credit Card. The campaign consists of two films conceptualised by TBWA India.

A young boy is out shopping with his mother at a large format lifestyle store. While the lady checks out clothes, the bored boy veers towards sunglasses. He observes a man trying out some shades and stands next to him. The kid tries on three pairs one after the other, all the while striking poses before the mirror and gesturing to the older man. The boy finally settles on a pair and pleads with his mom to buy it for him, but she refuses. As they walk out, a lady from the store stops them to hand over the same pair of sunglasses. A note on it says, 'With love, summer Santa.' The man trying on sunglasses was the benefactor, it is revealed. The film ends with the voice over introducing the Landmark Rewards Credit Card from Standard Chartered, with the promise of 9X rewards.

At 7.30 pm, a young man in office looks to call it a day, saying he has to take someone out for shopping. His colleague is accosted by their disgruntled boss who shouts at him for making mistakes in a report. In a fit of rage, the boss says, "I think I made a mistake in hiring you" while storming off. The next morning, the boss and the employee he shouted at are surprised to see a gift each on their respective tables. The boss has a gift with the message, 'Sir, won't let you down again', while his junior has one which reads, 'Bosses have bad days too'. As both of them feel better about themselves, the boss walks towards the man, gives him a pat on the back and tells him that lunch is on him. It's then revealed that the colleague who witnessed the previous day's happening had bought the gifts for the two men and was the 'Summer Santa'. The card and its promised rewards are then introduced.
