Vodafone Zoozoos take a musical bow at the IPL

Watch the TVC by Ogilvy & Mather; longer version of 30-second ‘music video’ to be released online

Vodafone’s Zoozoos are making a musical exit from this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League. A ‘music video’ created by Ogilvy & Mather will be on air during the last few matches of the tournament’s sixth edition, besides airing on some other channels.

The 30-second TVC went on air on May 21 during the playoff between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The agency is working on a longer version of the video which will be compilation of the 30-second ad and all the ads featuring Zoozoos released this year. It is to be released online shortly.

The ad opens with the animated characters dancing to a peppy dance number 'We are Zumi Zumi'. From Abba's Walk Like an Egyptian to Michael Jackson's signature moon walk, and everything else in-between, they do it all. Appearing throughout the film are supers like 'Share your pics' and 'Play your song'. The film ends with a Vodafone ‘Internet is fun’ frame.

Rajiv Rao, national creative director, Ogilvy & Mather, said, “This year we launched a teaser campaign to introduce the mini Zoozoos and this music video has been created to celebrate all the other films. This video is the finale that brings a wrap to this year's Zoozoo ads.”

Rao added that the launch of this video was strategically timed for the final matches of the IPL, which will end on 26 May. “It is something that we had decided from the very beginning. The music video will see some spillover on other channels and therefore might play for one extra week even after IPL comes to a close. And hopefully, we will be back with ZooZoos next summer.”
