Anant’s blog: Cabbages and kings

Spent a bit of time on Facebook on Sunday and I mentioned that I was looking forward to a couple of easy days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Like hell.Got into the office on Tuesday morning to work on a memento for ‘Steady’ John Steedman. Wrapped up by noon. Went to Bandra to meet someone who will be helping Campaign India’s Goafest efforts (look out for it).Came back to the ITC Central for a cup of tea with Steady. Great chat, and out of the discussions was born a great feature idea. Look out for this one, too.

Anant’s blog: Cabbages and kings

Spent a bit of time on Facebook on Sunday and I mentioned that I was looking forward to a couple of easy days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Like hell.

Got into the office on Tuesday morning to work on a memento for ‘Steady’ John Steedman. Wrapped up by noon. Went to Bandra to meet someone who will be helping Campaign India’s Goafest efforts (look out for it).

Came back to the ITC Central for a cup of tea with Steady. Great chat, and out of the discussions was born a great feature idea. Look out for this one, too.

On the way back to Bandra, learn that Peter and Indrani have resigned from the management of INX. Not surprising, it was heading there for some time. Learn that Pradeep Guha would take charge of INX on a short contract. Confused. What on earth can anyone achieve in a couple of months?

Back in Bandra, back home, had a nap, woke up, showered and went to Rampart Row for Steady’s farewell. Great send off for a man who clearly deserves a great send off.

10 PM and I left for Worli to catch up with a friend. Endless drinking and got home in the wee hours. Just before the milkman would have come (if I had a milkman; I don’t).

Woke up at around 10 AM. No newspaper. Shit. Logged on to discover Liverpool beat Real 4-0! All traces of a hangover disappeared. Picked up an old Dick Francis (10lb penalty, if you must know). Got the TAM numbers; STAR Plus pulls away again, Real TV makes a hash of the first week. But Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Spoke to my daughter who is in Pune with her mother on a five day holiday. Will catch her in Pune over the weekend.

Got a call from a friend for a Holi lunch. Only dry and organic colour. No bhang. Lots of beer, simple and delicious food. Caught another beer on the way home. Nap, woke up to discover 7 missed calls, all from my son who is in Manchester. His first semester marks are in and he’s doing well.

Spoke to two sisters, e-mail exchanges with my brother through his blog. Caught up with a friend for a couple of drinks and dinner.

Tired as hell.

But I could think of a million worse ways to spend two days off.
