Breaking News: Sumeet Chatterjee quits Pickle

Sumeet Chatterjee, president of Pickle Advertising, has put in his papers and joined TransStadia as its head of business development.

In his new role, Chatterjee will also be responsible for strategic alliances with partners (sponsors, sporting federations, education institutes, etc.), marketing and publicity, content and government liaison. He will report to Udit Sheth, owner of the company and its CEO and MD.

“There were many reasons why I considered moving from Pickle, although the most important one was growth and senior management business knowledge as one grows in his professional career. Let me clarify that the Lintas India group is undoubtedly amongst the finest institutions in Indian advertising and I have the highest regard for Balki and Charles Cadell. But, in my opinion, for a business person the business of mainline advertising provides a limited canvas, unlike the businesses of PR, DM and events where the business person has a more hands-on role. A creative person or an account planner has a much more interesting and exciting role in the mainline advertising business. My role at TransStadia is very rich, challenging and diverse. It’s a start-up opportunity to create a new sports eco-system in India. The scale and scope of the project is mind-blowing,” said Chatterjee.

TransStadia is a sports and entertainment company that intends to create a first of its kind stadium in India that creates an enabling eco-system for sports to popularize sports culture.  The first stadium is coming up in Ahmedabad in a public private partnership (PPP) with the Gujarat Government. A unique technology will enable the stadium to derive sustainable revenue from both sporting and non-sporting events.
