What're you planning to do this weekend?
Educate my three month old daughter about Neil Diamond, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Roger Whittaker before she grows up and starts listening to trash.
One film you would recommend that people watch over the weekend?
The Man of La Mancha by Arthur Hiller. It's a story about how fantasy triumphs over bitter reality.
Any book that you would recommend?
Mine. As soon as I muster up enough courage, white paper, a black pen and plot to write it.
What's the most played track on your media player?
Me & Bobby Mcgee. Not the Janis Joplin version.
The last time you worked on a weekend?
Thankfully, not for a while now. And if it's up to me [which it's not] I plan to keep it that way.
The most adventurous weekend you've had?
A long time back, before I was at Ogilvy and before I had pretty little interns who could do my work for me, I was jobless. So I did what most jobless people in Calcutta who want to be in advertising do. I went to Bombay. I didn't know anyone. All I knew was "Ogilvy". So I headed to their office with no appointment, no reference. Just a few ads which I thought was a 'Portfolio'. The interview was short. In short I was politely shown the door. That was on a Friday. Dejected, tired and somewhat suicidal, I faithfully did what my school friend, who stayed there asked me to do. I went to Goa with him. There was dubious amounts of Kings beer and vindaloo and cheap cigarettes. And there were late night scooty rides to strange places. And there were frantic [and disappointing] searches for nude beaches. Which led to a little more dejection. But on the whole, yeah my most adventurous weekend.
Your ideal weekend getaway would be?
La Mancha. Wherever that is.
