Dentsu India Group has announced the appointment of Glen Ireland as chief executive officer, Dentsu Digital. Ireland’s key priority at Dentsu will be to build a strong digital competence that would include creative, technical, strategy, account management and media capabilities.
Ireland joins Dentsu from Gurgaon-based digital marketing solutions company 8020 where he was managing partner. He is also founder-director at IDMI, a digital marketing training institute he founded in 2009 to evangelise digital media and marketing. The school claims to have trained over 500 marketing professionals through various workshops and bootcamps.
Welcoming Ireland to Dentsu, Rohit Ohri, executive chairman, Dentsu India Group said, “I am delighted to have Glen as part of my leadership team. Glen’s experience in India and overseas will help him harness Dentsu’s global technology strengths and proprietary tools in mobile and social media for our client partners in the India market.”
On joining Dentsu, Ireland said, “At Dentsu, I am looking to deliver high-impact, integrated brand experiences using multi-level digital platforms. My many years of brand building, CRM and relationship marketing experience coupled with digital expertise give me the knowledge and experience required to create winning strategies for brands that are both consumer centric and measurable.”
Ireland has over 19 years of experience in marketing communications, and he has worked in India, Australia, Singapore and the Middle East.
He has worked for two advertising agencies in Australia - George Patterson Y&R and Publicis Mojo in Sydney. At GPYR he was digital planning director handling various brands including Microsoft, Caltex and others. At Publicis Mojo he was CRM strategist working on Qantas and Toyota.
He also worked with WPP/Enfatico in Singapore as regional strategy director – digital (APAC) on the Dell account – an opportunity that gave him a chance to work with diverse teams across Japan, China, Korea and other parts of Asia.
In India, he gained relationship marketing and customer loyalty experience at JWT’s RMG Connect, where under his leadership as vice-president and branch manager (Delhi) he built up a cross functional team managing clients – like ITC’s Wills Lifestyle, Spice Mobile, Oracle, SBI cards, Timex, Xerox and Avaya to name a few. In his earlier days Ireland worked with Rediffusion DY&R on brands like Revlon, Lufthanasa, Shell and Whtye & Mackay.
