Campaign India Agency Report Card 2011: BBH India

Type of agency: Advertising

Ownership: 49% owned by Publicis Groupe

Key Personnel: Subhash Kamath, Partha Sinha, Raj Kamble, Paul Ward (all managing partners), Russell Barrett (executive creative director and brand partner), Rishit Mehta (finance director)

Account won: Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Channel V, Hair & Care, Shanti Amla

Account lost: None reported

Definitely an interesting year for BBH India. Paul Ward and Raj Kamble moved in as managing partners between March and April, with Kamble taking on the role of chief creative officer as well. The string of appointments continued in September and October, and included Abhishake Das from Tribal DDB, and Dhananjay Kapoor as head of production. In terms of creative campaigns, the jury felt there was a solid body of work on a few brands recently (TVS Wego, World Gold Council, and Vaseline). But with Hegarty’s name comes a great promise and keeping that in mind, the jury felt the agency is yet to pick up.
How Campaign India rates the agency: 6

How BBH rates itself: 8
2011 has been an excellent year for BBH India. We have grown more than 40% over last year and are now a strong force of 55 people. Importantly, we’ve inducted hot new talent on board, a new creative leadership, as well as investments into digital and strategic capabilities.  Some of our recent campaigns for Google Chrome, Vaseline, Nihar, World Gold Council, TVS Wego and Vat 69 have been very successful and admired in the market place. Our creativity has spread beyond traditional media into branded content, digital + social media and brand consultancy. We are an organisation born in 2009 and we’ve made significant progress in becoming the communications company of the future.
