Wunderman Thompson South Asia has announced the appointments of Antara Dey and Nikhil Thakkar.

Thakkar joins the agency as VP and strategic planning director and will be based in Gurugram. Dey joins as account director for its Kolkata office.

The agency had recently announced the appointment of Richa Dholi as VP, strategy planning in Mumbai.

Thakkar joins the agency for his second stint from 82.5 Communications, where he was senior vice president and head of planning (North). Dey moves after a stint with Bennett Coleman and Co, where she was creative strategist.

Pinaki Bhattacharya, chief strategy officer, Wunderman Thompson India, said, “The agency is at an exciting point in its transformation journey and finding strategists that fit our transformed purpose is a challenging one. We need them to have a robust understanding of brands, of levers of brand growth, of consumer journeys and modern marketing. With a pulse on popular and emerging culture. And above all, they need to be interesting people."

He added, "Not an easy mix to find, you would agree! Which is why I am delighted to have Nikhil, Richa and Antara join the strategy team at Wunderman Thompson. In them we have found just the kind of strategists we want. I am looking forward to working with them and to some really exciting work on the brands they are working on.”

In a career spanning 14 years, Thakkar has also worked with Leo Burnett, TNS, Ipsos and Kadence. Dey meanwhile, has worked with Matrix Clothing, Trujet Airlines and Tata Steel over a decade-long career.
