India has won one silver, five bronzes and seven finalists at YoungGuns 2009.
O&M Mumbai’s campaign for Sour Marbels for Perfetti Van Melle has won a silver in the Out-of-home campaign category. It has also won a bronze in the Print Advertising Campaigns Newspaper category.
Sour Marbels ‘Cave-man’, ‘Diver’ and ‘Tourist’ are finalists in the Print Advertising Newspapers category and in the Out-of-home outdoor posters category.The creative team for the campaign includes Anurag Agnihotri, Ashish Naik, Nasarullah Husami and Saurabh Kulkarni.
JWT Chennai’s ‘Run/Ban Jallikatu’ for The Times of India in Digital-being Involved category and ‘Arjuna the Archer in 2008’ for Sulekha.com in Ad in Digital Visual Design – Aesthetic category have won a bronze each. The creative team for 'Run/Ban Jallikatu' includes Arjun Kumar, Shiv Parameswaran, Senthil Kumar, Jeff Emmanuel, Arun Kumar, Mark Manuel and Mayun Samavedam. The creative team for 'Arjuna the Archer in 2008' includes Jeff Emmanuel, Mark Manuel, Arun Kumar, Arjun Nalapat, Senthil Kumar, Suresh Eriyat and Karthik Sekhar.
JWT India’s ‘Berger Natural Finish Colours’ for Berger Paints in India has also won a bronze Out-of-home outdoor large format category. The creative team includes Minal Phatak, Rohit Redekar, Tista Sen and Nandita Chalam.
Rediffusion Y&R’s ‘Airtel Mobile Phone Data Backup Service’ for Bharti Airtel has won a bronze in Print Advertising Campaigns Newspapers category. The creative team includes Shameem Mohammad, Deepesh Jha, Jaideep Mahajan, Arunay Rai and Megha Dutta.
Leo Burnett’s ‘Wrapper’ for P&G Whisper is a finalist in Direct Mail Low Volume Mailings category. The creative team includes Chinmay Raut and Vikram Pandey.
Commenting on the win, Ashish Naik, ACD, O&M India (art director for Sour Marbels campaign) said, “We were expecting this award as it has already picked up lot of international awards. Winning at YoungGuns is even more exciting because it awards the young people which is great. It’s a big competition and we are really happy to win.” O&M’s Saurabh Kulkarni said that this award is extremely motivating for young people. Nasarullah Husami said, “We were expecting a gold. We will definitely win it next year.”Deepesh Jha, creative head-Airtel, Rediffusion Y&R said, “This campaign has been winning everywhere. We have picked up four international awards for this so far. And we are very excited about our win at YoungGuns.”
On how important is this award for the young creatives, Senthil Kumar, ECD, JWT India says, “Young Guns Awards started a few years ago to promote and showcase young talent under the age of 30 from around the world.
