Delhi HC rules in favour of Palki Sharma Upadhyay joining TV18
The Delhi High Court has ruled in favour of Palki Sharma Upadhyay in her ongoing case with Zee Media Corporation.

Upadhyay was the managing editor at Zee's WION channel.

The case was between her previous employer Zee after she exited the company in September 2022 and joined TV18 as one of its managing editors.

In a suit filed by Zee Media Corporation, they restricted her from joining or continuing her employment with another television channel.

In their statement, Zee claimed, "She had violated the mandatory notice period policy and the non-compete clause and owned confidential information which she might use to the benefit of competitors."

On these grounds, Zee requested the court to restrain her from joining or continuing her employment with TV18.

However, Upadhyay's lawyers Saif Mahmood and Anil Sapra, opposed Zee’s request and argued that the suit itself was not maintainable, much less the request for an injunction.

Her lawyers assured the court that their client does not intend to violate confidentiality and that Zee’s contentions in this regard were unfounded.

However, the court did not find any merit in the contentions of Zee’s attorney, Joy Basu and held that she cannot be restrained from working in any other channel.
