Elephant Strategy + Design’s founder director and principal designer Ashwini Deshpande has been empanelled on the jury of the first LG Cubes Design Innovation Awards in India, meant to award innovative ideas in Product Design.

Elephant Strategy + Design’s founder director and principal designer Ashwini Deshpande has been empanelled on the jury of the LG Cubes Design Innovation Awards in India.

This is the first year of LG’s Design Innovation Awards, which looks for innovative ideas in the area of product design.Entries have been invited from design professionals, students and design enthusiasts. Other members of the jury include Mukul Goyal of Designwise India, Alex Davis of AlexDavis Design, Michael Foley of Foley Design, and Seonkyu Kim of LG Corporate Design Centre.More details on the awards can be accessed here. http://www.lg.com/in/lgcubes.jsp

All design entries are to be for use at home, office or travel under categories like Health, Energy, Entertainment, Comfort & Usability. There are mega prizes, including a visit to LG Design Center in Korea. 

Speaking to Campaign India on the awards, Deshpande commented, “The objective of the LG Cubes Design Innovation Awards is to recognize and celebrate good design, to give a platform to budding design visionaries and to promote the power of good design in general. LG cubes stands for three dimensions from which all shapes emerge. The idea is to encourage out of the box thinking.” 

Talking about the qualities that the judges will be looking for, Deshpande says, “Design is meant to create a better future for all. There is nothing bigger than a great idea. Then follow the other virtues of detailing.”
