The Rise of the Planet of the Apes opens from Hollywood this week, directed by Rupert Wyatt. Will Rodman thinks he has discovered a cure for Alzheimer’s and tests it on a chimp called Caesar, only to find it induces super-human intelligence levels in the animal. Caesar consequently builds an army of enhanced apes to overthrow humanity.

The offerings from India include I am Kalam and Chala Mussaddi. I am Kalam charts the journey of a young boy working at a roadside cafe who is inspired by the life of APJ Abdhul Kalam. The long-running sitcom Chala Mussaddi makes its debut onto the big screen. But will Mussaddi remain a victim to bureaucracy or beat the system?
