Diwan Arun Nanda has stepped down from the position of chairperson of Rediffusion after 50 years at the helm.

According to a statement issued by Rediffusion, Nanda made the decision because of his indifferent health, and advancing age.

Goyal has been working with Nanda for many years in two different stints at the agency.

Nanda had founded Rediffusion in 1973, after working with Unilever as brand manager.

He said, “Rediffusion’s 50 years has been a dream run. I enjoyed every moment of the very many hundreds of client interactions, the strategy sessions, the creation of the campaigns and the launching of the brands. At the board level I must thank Ajit Balakrishnan, Suresh Talwar and Sunil Phataphekar, my co-directors for years, for their sage advice and for always supporting me as chairperson. The agency under Sandeep is in good hands and I am happy to pass on the baton to him at Rediffusion.”

Goyal's been group CEO, ZeeTelefilms, and chairperson of Dentsu India.
