Uttam Nayak (pictured) has been appointed country manager for South Asia for Visa. He succeeds Santanu Mukherjee, who was recently appointed Visa’s regional head of Innovation and Technology and is now based in Singapore.

In his new role, Nayak will be responsible for building Visa’s brand and business in the South Asia region which includes India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, with a focus toward building client relationships, growing business volumes and sales of Visa branded products and services. He was previously the country manager of India.

David Lee, regional president, Asia Pacific region, Visa commented on his appointment, “With a growing middle class numbering in hundreds of millions, South Asia presents a unique environment and opportunity for the electronic payments industry. Some opportunities will come from South Asia being a hub for innovation and technology development for Visa that already includes products such as Visa Bill Pay, mobile payments and Visa Prepaid.
