Campaign expands its coverage into Indonesia

The launch of its Bahasa Indonesia language publication bolsters Campaign’s global expansion, following new German and Canadian editions launched earlier this year.

Campaign expands its coverage into Indonesia

Haymarket Media Group, the parent company of Campaign, has launched Campaign Indonesia to cover the advertising, marketing and media industries in one of the world’s fastest-growing and dynamic markets.

"We are so excited and proud to be bringing Campaign's high-quality journalism and in-depth coverage to Indonesia,” said Atifa Silk, managing director of Haymarket Media Asia. Leveraging the strength of our global and Asia-Pacific networks, we'll provide context to the local industry, while sharing the great Indonesian industry stories we're documenting with the rest of the world."

Expected to become one of the top five economies in the world in the coming decades, Indonesia's size, scale and rising ad spend among its young demographic of consumers has been well documented. But it’s how fast a new generation of marketing professionals is changing the game that also excites Campaign.

As one of the strongest e-commerce markets, Indonesian marketers are breaking ground with innovative collaborations between shopping platforms, super apps, and social media platforms to bring more personalized content and services.  Meanwhile, influencers are challenging the role of creative teams and traditional media, multinational brands and agencies are also being challenged by the rise of local brands and thriving independent agencies.

“Our goal, as with every market we cover, is to uplift the industry by identifying best practices, exposing bad practices, benchmarking work, and leading the discussion for change,” said Robert Sawatzky, editorial director at Haymarket Media Asia. “However, we are also learning. The market is large, complex and extends beyond Jakarta. We want to document how, why and where local Indonesian brands, marketers and agencies are succeeding.”

To do this, Campaign has enlisted local journalists as it builds its in-market team to cover the industry in the local business language of Bahasa Indonesia.  The fully functioning mobile-enabled website, which can also be translated to English, already contains stories, reviews, videos and interviews from local journalists Aulia Masna, Maina Harjani, Tara Marchelin, Stephanie Mamonto and Alfado Rotikan, with more contributors to come.

The launch of Campaign Indonesia comes at a time of rapid global expansion for Campaign. Last week Haymarket announced the title’s expansion into Europe’s German-speaking DACH region, and earlier this year launched in Canada.

In addition to these three markets, Campaign has a footprint across eight others worldwide, through sites serving the UK, US, Asia-Pacific, China, Japan, Middle East, India and Turkey.
