Media, TNS release Asia Pacific's Top 1000 brands

Media magazine (sister title to Campaign India) in conjunction with TNS, has released 'Asia Pacific's Top 1000 Brands' survey for 2008. According to the report, India's 'best brands' in various categories include LG, Samsung, Kingfisher, Jet, ICICI, SBI, Sony, Canon, Cadbury, Nestle, VISA, Taj, Oberoi, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sony and Samsung.

Media magazine (sister title to Campaign India) in conjunction with TNS, has released 'Asia Pacific's Top 1000 Brands' survey for 2008. According to the report, India's 'best brands' in various categories include LG, Samsung, Kingfisher, Jet, ICICI, SBI, Sony, Canon, Cadbury, Nestle, VISA, Taj, Oberoi, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sony and Samsung.
 
To determine the best brands, participants were asked two questions: "When you think of (product / service / category), which is the 'best' brand that comes to your mind?" The second question was, "Apart from the brand that you have just mentioned, which brand do you consider to be the second-best brand in the (product / service / category)?" The categories presented to each participant included financial services, automotive, health, retail, food, beverages, alcohol and cigarettes, electronic goods, media and telecommunications, and baby products, household products, toiletries and cosmetics. 3,600 people were interviewed for the survey across ten countries including Japan, Korea, Australia China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
 
Commenting on the findings, Shobha Subramanian, executive director, TNS India said, "Reaching and retaining the 'BEST Brand' popularity as revealed in the Top 1,000 brands study, demonstrate their success in building awareness and differentiation in a challenging and competitive category. This goes beyond mere market or sales share into the realm of consumer share of mind. Brands such as Sony, Nokia, ICICI and HP are in the forefront not just in India but across various markets in this region."
