Pinstorm, the Bombay-headquartered digital brand management firm, was awarded the 'Red Herring Global Top 100' award on Friday at a ceremony in San Diego, USA. Prior winners at the Red Herring awards have included Google, Yahoo!, Skype and YouTube.

The award is given by US-based magazine Red Herring to innovative technology-driven firms around the world and picked through their editorial process.

Speaking after winning the award, Ansoo Gupta, COO, Pinstorm said, "This award is a testament to our focus on brand management through innovative technology. I'd like to thank our clients who have reposed their faith in our work through the years – and to our people who have seen us through from a 400 square foot office with four people to India’s only advertising multinational with offices in four countries."

Mahesh Murthy, founder, Pinstorm said, "It’s our fourth Red Herring – but the biggest one – the Global 100 award. It’s humbling to be in the same space as firms like Google and Yahoo! were many years ago. I hope we can make as much an impact as them in the years ahead!"

The Red Herring Awards are given to firms that display innovative technology and commercial success. Very few advertising firms have won this award.

Mahesh Murthy said, "We’re among the few brand management firms worldwide that have invested deeply in building technology for marketing. We started with building tools to do better SEM, and have over the years, built out technologies that revolutionise SEM, SEO, display advertising and now have a complete suite of tools to do industrial strength social media management. Today, brand management requires deep technology strength."

Pinstorm’s technologies include BroadWords for better long-tail keyword generation; LiveContext for automated and live search engine advertising; OCAT for long-term tracking of SEO; PerfectLandings for landing pages better optimized for SEM; LiveBanners and Cost-Per-Impact for online display advertising; and TweetReach, p1n.in, BuzzMeter and Social Console for outbound and inbound social media management.
