Elevations part of creating separate business units

Sanjay Gupta, K Madhavan get new roles at Star India
Star India has announced elevations within the company as it shifts to separate business units within the company. 
 
Uday Shankar who was CEO, has been additionally made chairman of the company. 
 
Sanjay Gupta, current COO, is now managing director for Star India. K. Madhavan, MD of Asianet Communications, is now appointed MD-South for Star India. The duo will continue to report to Shankar. 
 
James Murdoch, CEO, 21st Century Fox, said, "Star India consistently sets the standard for innovation and growth in one of the world’s most exciting markets. Uday, Sanjay, Madhavan and the entire Star India team have built a world-class business that has grown at double the industry rate. We are proud of its success and look forward to the next chapter of growth under Uday’s transformational leadership."
 
Star has also established different business units within the company. The CEO of each will report to Gupta.
 
Amit Chopra has been assigned CEO of entertainment. This includes drama and movie channels across national and regional channels in Hindi, English, Bengali and Marathi.
 
Nitin Kukreja has been appointed CEO of Sports, heading the portfolio of channels under the Star Sports banner. 
 
Ajit Mohan is CEO of digital, which oversees Hotstar.
 
Vijay Singh is CEO of Fox Star Studios, which produces and distributes Bollywood and regional films
 
Kevin Vaz has been appointed as CEO of South, reporting to K. Madhavan. 
 
Additionally, a pan-India content studio will be set up to drive innovation in programming under Gaurav Banerjee who reports into Sanjay Gupta.
 
Shankar said, "We have set ourselves a bold growth agenda and these changes will deepen the leadership bench, unlock entrepreneurial energy and position Star better to deliver on its ambitions.”
