Bigbasket weaves together an endearing tale of enduring love

Watch the film conceptualised by Humour Me here

Bigbasket has rolled out a silent film titled 'Saadgi' (simplicity) that captures the bittersweet essence of true love minus the loud proclamations or mushy jingles - the usual tropes that are normally associated with the emotion in mainstream media.

The film, conceptualised and produced by Humour Me, seeks to communicate the message that love does not only exist in grand gestures but also lives in the little, everyday moments that make life worthwhile and complete.

Featuring a married couple as the protagonists, the narrative follows them through the years as they live a simple, yet happy life, content in each other's companionships. The film celebrates their togetherness via simple acts of care such as enjoying a morning cup of bed tea, cooking breakfast together, watering a sapling and watching it grow into a healthy plant, or even a routine task such as noting down a list of daily essentials to be bought by the spouse.

As time goes by and the couple grows old, these mundane, shared acts form the bedrock of their bond, till one day their relationship gets a rude jolt when one of the partners passes away. The film portrays the emptiness and grief experienced by the living partner even as he is forced to face a life without his constant companion.

It goes on to reveal how while trying to come to terms with his loss, he is aided by sweet little handwritten notes from his wife that help him to keep going. Thus serving as a reminder to all how life goes by in the blink of an eye, and how crucial it is to appreciate and celebrate the mundaneness that is present in our day-to-day.

The film was rolled out on 14 February on the occasion of Valentine's Day.
