John Koo appointed MD for Cheil South West Asia

Cheil Worldwide today has appointed John Koo as the new managing director for Cheil South West Asia Region. Koo was earlier the managing director of Cheil Worldwide Italy for the last six years. He brings in experience of over 20 years with Cheil in various positions.

Koo will replace Jae Hong Kim as part of a routine reshuffle. Kim will be back in the Cheil Headquarters at Seoul to take a position in the global division.

Commenting on his appointment Koo said, “India is a market with great opportunity and holds a strong position in Cheil’s global expansion plans. I am quite impressed with the developments here in the last few years and I will focus on making Cheil the best-integrated agency for the digital age in India. We have many plans for expansion and integration that will make us a highly competitive agency in this market. I am very excited to be here and look forward to my Indian journey.”

On his stint in India, Kim said, “India has been an unbelievable experience for me personally. The vast and diverse culture, the passion of Indian people has been particularly enlightening to me. I have great pride in the achievements of our agency in the last few years and I am sure the agency will grow from strength to strength from here. I leave with a bit of India in me.”

Koo will officially take over on 1 April.
