LinkedIn India has released the first edition of Power Profiles 2012, a list of the most viewed LinkedIn profiles of professionals in India across six industries. LinkedIn claims to have monitored profiles of its 17 million members in the country to draw the list of influentials from the internet, telecom, advertising, human resources, finance and technology domains.
Deepa Sapatnekar, head of communications, LinkedIn - India, Korea and MENA, pointed out that the initiative was to showcase real members who use LinkedIn and understand the value of maintaining their professional profile.
When asked about the parameters behind the ranking, she said, "The main consideration was the number of views. That is one reason why having a complete profile is key: simple things like adding one position makes you 12 times more likely to receive career opportunities, addding your school and university details can help you reconnect in relevant groups, and adding a photo makes you seven times more likely to be viewed."
While LinkedIn may look at expanding the list next year, this year's list features professionals from the six industries that were most viewed. Featured on the list this year from 'advertising' for their LinkedIn profiles are Jessie Paul (PaulWriter), Mahesh Murthy (Pinstorm), Khushboo Maheshwari (Madison), Madan Sanglikar (ad2c), Marut Bhardwaj (The BrandGlam), Ambika Sharma (Pulp Strategy) and Rachna Sharma (JWT).
