Continuing its aggressive hiring spree, Bates 141 has hired Russell Barrett as executive creative director for its Mumbai office. Barrett (pictured) will be responsible for all the accounts being handled out of the Mumbai office including Virgin Mobile, Tata AIG, etc.

He will report directly to Sonal Dabral, chairman India and regional creative director, Asia, Bates 141. "2009 will see a new Bates emerge - an energetic, hungry buzzing Bates. In keeping with this vision, what we needed for leading the Mumbai team was someone who could lead from the front," said Dabral. "I am sure that Russell, who is also one of the most awarded creative people in India today, will be instrumental in taking the Mumbai office to new heights."

Barrett comes from Leo Burnett where he worked on brands such as Reliance Mobile, IDBI Capital and Bajaj Electricals. He was also the copy-writer for the much awarded Che, Charlie Hitler campaign Leo Burnett created for Luxor.

"Like most creative people, I too have always wanted to work with Sonal who is an amazing creative talent, as well as an iconic leader. Then there's a CEO (Pat) who is as passionate as any creative person about brilliant creative output. So what you have is an excellent environment for the creative product to flourish," said Barrett.
