New York Times acquires Wordle
The New York Times (NYT) has announced its acquisition of Wordle, a website-only word game on 31 January, 2022.

With this move, NYT aims to reach its digital content to 10 million subscribers by 2025.

The gaming website is acquired at an undisclosed price in the low seven digit figures (USD).

The investment into gaming and puzzles is a key component of NYT's strategy to keep its audiences engaged on its apps and websites.

Wordle will continue to operate without any cost, according to sources at NYT.
