Vodafone captures joy of shared celebration, announces free data on Diwali day

Watch the ad film conceptualised by Ogilvy & Mather here

Vodafone will offer users 100 MB of free data on 11 November to celebrate Diwali. Communicating this is an ad campaign conceptualised by Ogilvy & Mather.

A film features different people communicating with their loved ones through video calls amidst Diwali celebrations. A surgeon guides his son as the young boy tries to light a flower pot, much like he would in person. A girl in what seems like a hostel room pulls her younger brother’s leg, teasing him on his unease with the traditional attire he’s been made to wear. A young woman in office gets wishes on the video call by her entire colony, that’s lit up for the revelry. The film shifts gears as the flower pot comes to life lit by the young boy. The young woman in office reciprocates, showing off the decorations in her workplace. The sound and light show reaches a crescendo while Vodafone delivers the message: ‘Ghar se door, par gharwalon se nahin (far from home, but not from the folks at home), before announcing the offer of 100 MB of data on Diwali day.

Sunil Sood, managing director and CEO, Vodafone India, said, "At Vodafone, we are driven with the singular objective of delivering superior experience to our customers. Data is increasingly driving usage pattern, more so during important festivals like Diwali. Offering free data on Diwali is our way of gratifying our valued 188 million customers for their love and trust in the brand and our service experience. We take this opportunity to wish all our customers Happy Diwali and will continue to delight them with such differentiated offerings in the days to come."
