Yahoo! India and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced a three-year partnership. This partnership enables Yahoo! India to have access to exclusive images, videos and interviews around all major ICC events. Yahoo! India aims to make cricket accessible to all lovers of the game, through its reach and exclusive content with the ICC.
Commenting about this alliance, Gopal Krishna (pictured), vice president and head of audience, emerging markets, Yahoo! said, "Yahoo! is thrilled to partner with ICC. This partnership gives us access to never before experienced content in the online domain. It also demonstrates our commitment to cricket and addresses the needs of Internet audiences with top quality coverage of major cricketing events. As a global brand, Yahoo! will attract more users worldwide and contribute towards the growth of cricket."
Haroon Lorgat, chief executive, ICC further added, "In today's technology-driven world, this is a massive boost for the ICC and cricket. Not only do we get another vibrant and committed commercial partner on board but this deal also ensures cricket fans will benefit from Yahoo's already established popularity and enormous reach across the cyber world."
With this partnership, the website iccevents.yahoo.com will contain exhaustive information about all ICC tourneys including the ICC World, Twenty20, ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Cricket World Cup, for the next three years.
In addition, Yahoo! also launched a new cricket portal, cricket.yahoo.com. This website claims to be a complete resource on cricket with updates, images, match schedules and player profiles.
