This year, the Media Abby has received 417 entries. The first round of judging took place on Monday in Mumbai.

The second and the final round of judging will be conducted on Wednesday, 18 March 2009. The final shortlist will be announced after that.

Campaign India caught up with a few judges during the break and got their impressions on the quality of the entries that they had seen so far. Anita Karnik of Mindshare felt that the presentation was crispier this year as compared to the last year. Sushma Jhaveri of Carat India said that the presentation could have been better and she had seen only run-of-the-mill entries so far. Prashant Kumar of Group M thought that it was a mixed bag with both evolved entries and run-of-the-mill entries.

The Media Abby awards will be announced on 3 April during Goafest 2009.
