The Body Shop India unaffected by UK restructuring, affirms CEO Shriti Malhotra

The statement highlights that the job cuts and certain store closures in the UK market will not affect the Indian franchise market

The Body Shop India unaffected by UK restructuring, affirms CEO Shriti Malhotra
Last week, The Body Shop International's directors appointed Tony Wright, Geoff Rowley, and Alastair Massey from FRP, a business advisory firm, as joint administrators for the company's UK operations.

This move comes as part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at revitalising the iconic beauty brand's presence in the UK market.

In regards to the Indian counterpart, The Body Shop India operates as a head franchise market and is not affected by the UK business administration process. The focus of the restructuring efforts remains solely on the UK segment and does not impact the global network of franchise partners.

In response to inquiries regarding the restructuring plans for the UK business, the appointed administrators emphasised the necessity of implementing swift changes to foster a more agile and financially sustainable model.

The administrators highlighted the importance of nurturing relationships with key franchise and wholesale partners across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, underscoring their role in driving the brand's future success.

Shriti Malhotra, group CEO, Quest Retail - The Body Shop India, said, “The news that’s been reported relates to The Body Shop UK only. This administration process does not impact The Body Shop India as it is a Head Franchise Market. All our stores are open as usual! Customers can shop in our stores and online for their favourite products. The Body Shop stands out as the largest international beauty retailer in India, with nearly 200 stores nationwide and catering to 1500+ cities via our online reach. India is one of the top markets for The Body Shop globally, and our consistent growth reflects the popularity of The Body Shop and the immense opportunities we are tapping into. The Body Shop India will continue to scale-up and focus on omni-channel expansion, while leveraging newer opportunities in retail, quick commerce and high convenience formats, so that the strong brand affinity built in India is well supported by easy and expansive access to our customers."
