In an era where instant messaging is the norm, traditional customer communication channels are failing businesses, leading to lost revenue and disengaged customers. Email open rates are plummeting, SMS messages are often ignored, and phone calls go unanswered.

Brands are struggling to connect with their customers in meaningful ways, leaving millions in potential revenue on the table. Enter Gallabox, a Chennai-based SaaS company on a mission to change the game by transforming WhatsApp into a powerful marketing and sales engine for businesses of all sizes.

With $3.5 million in fresh funding led by FUSE, alongside Prime Venture Partners and Neon Fund, Gallabox is rapidly expanding its global footprint. The company, founded in 2021 by Karthik Jagannathan, Yogesh Narayanan, and Yathin Panchanathan, aims to help businesses automate and optimise customer interactions using a no-code platform.

By enabling companies to build AI-driven WhatsApp chatbots, run outbound campaigns, and streamline team collaboration, Gallabox is filling the gaps left by outdated communication methods.

The rise of conversational commerce

In markets where WhatsApp dominates communication—such as India, the Middle East, and Latin America—businesses are eager to tap into the platform’s potential. Unlike large enterprises that can afford custom-built WhatsApp automation, SMBs have been left to manage conversations manually, leading to inefficiencies and lost opportunities.

According to Jagannathan, the shift to B2C messaging is undeniable, but most businesses lack the tools to capitalise on it. "Typically, SMBs spend enormous amounts of time and effort in building pipelines, which are often disjointed and not scalable. Our platform enables any business, regardless of their technical expertise or budget, to deploy sophisticated AI agents on WhatsApp, helping them convert every conversation into a business opportunity... within minutes," he noted.

Gallabox’s no-code approach allows SMBs to set up automated workflows, lead qualification processes, and customer engagement campaigns without requiring technical expertise. The company has already onboarded over 10,000 businesses across 45 countries, with a strong presence in industries such as education, healthcare, real estate, and travel.

A data-driven approach to customer engagement

What sets Gallabox apart from traditional communication tools is its ability to create conversational, real-time, and personalised interactions. According to Jagannathan, the platform delivers several key advantages.

This includes conversational and context-rich engagement because unlike email or SMS, WhatsApp allows for interactive, two-way conversations using text, voice notes, images, videos, and buttons. Companies can use this communicational channel to send messages throughout the customer journey and nurture relationships with buyers, by driving interest, conversion, and re-engagement.

AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Perplexity AI are handy for answering questions, but AI agents take things up a notch—they don’t just inform, they execute. Need research done, a report written, designs generated or a client brief fine-tuned? They handle it.

Even better, they can manage other AIs for complex workflows. By 2025, they won’t just boost productivity—they’ll supercharge it, turning every worker into a one-person powerhouse, especially when no-code AI agent building is involved. With Gallabox, businesses can create automated conversation flows for lead generation, FAQs, and customer support with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface.

Jagannathan also told Campaign that it can help agencies in managing their outbound campaigns. Targeted WhatsApp campaigns enable multi-step drip marketing and personalised follow-ups, improving conversion rates, he opined.

Having multiple agents to manage conversations simultaneously while maintaining shared customer context, can also help its scalability and collaboration. They can also personalise it with rich media and interactive elements create engaging customer experiences tailored to user preferences.

“With real-time insights, businesses can track open rates, response times, customer sentiment, and conversion funnels within a single dashboard. By leveraging these capabilities, businesses can turn WhatsApp conversations into meaningful customer engagements, leading to higher conversions and revenue growth,” Jagannathan added.

Scaling for global expansion

Gallabox has set an ambitious target: to power 50,000 businesses by the end of 2025. While 60% of its current customer base is in India, the company is rapidly expanding in the Middle East, Latin America, and North America, where WhatsApp adoption is growing.

To support this international growth, Gallabox has dedicated teams in key markets, ensuring localised solutions. "WhatsApp is the dominant communication channel in many regions, and our teams in the Middle East, Latin America, and the US enable us to localize effectively," Jagannathan told.

The company tailors its platform through cultural and language customisation by supporting English, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and Bahasa for regional preferences. “Our local teams conduct workshops and training sessions in the user’s native language, ensuring quick adoption and best-practice usage,” Jagannathan stated. “Through these tailored strategies, Gallabox helps SMBs in diverse geographies leverage WhatsApp as an effective channel for growth and customer engagement.”

Besides ensuring adherence to GDPR, SOC2, and region-specific data privacy laws for regulatory compliance, it also offers local payment and CRM integrations with seamless compatibility with tools like Zoho, HubSpot, Pipedrive, and Salesforce.

The future of AI-powered sales and marketing

Beyond WhatsApp automation, Gallabox is evolving into a full-fledged AI Sales and Marketing agent platform. "We see our role expanding in three key areas," Jagannathan explains. The first is omni-channel capabilities by expanding beyond WhatsApp to platforms like Instagram DMs, TikTok, and AI Voice interactions. Next up is end-to-end lead nurturing to make it become a go-to conversational CRM that automates lead capture, engagement, and conversion.

The third pillar is AI-powered personalisation. “By embedding AI-driven insights, we aim to help businesses deliver near-instant, context-rich responses at scale, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction and conversion rates,” Jagannathan stated.

With the latest funding, Gallabox is accelerating its investment in AI-driven automation. The company is working on AI agents that can be trained using natural language instructions, lowering technical barriers for businesses.

The India market opportunity

As a country with over 400 million WhatsApp users, India presents a significant growth opportunity for Gallabox. The company is investing heavily in integrations with Indian payment gateways and marketing tools to ensure local relevance.

"India is a vibrant market for messaging-driven commerce and support. We’re collaborating with Indian SMB networks to ensure businesses can leverage WhatsApp for sales, marketing, and customer engagement at scale," says Jagannathan.

By embedding AI-driven insights, Gallabox aims to help businesses deliver instant, high-quality responses at scale. Its focus remains on ensuring businesses of all sizes can harness WhatsApp to drive tangible business outcomes.

As traditional communication channels continue to decline in effectiveness, businesses are scrambling for solutions that provide real engagement. Gallabox is stepping in with a scalable, AI-powered platform that turns WhatsApp conversations into revenue-driving opportunities.

With plans to expand its global footprint, enhance its AI capabilities, and onboard tens of thousands of new businesses, Gallabox is positioning itself as a key player in the future of B2C messaging. For businesses looking to stay ahead in the evolving landscape of customer communication, adopting conversational automation may no longer be optional—it may be essential.
